There should be a law to first ban machines and to have a minimum number of polling cabine / citizen... In France we have around 1 polling per 1000 voters with 8-10 voting booth in my town. Which means that if EVERYONE goes at the same time (which never occurs as obviously not everyone votes and most people don't go at the same time), you would have to wait at most 4 hours... I never had to wait... Plain and simple

So shameful the commitment and effort citizens in certain areas need to expend just to cast a vote and yet still you have people whining about the inconvenience and loss of liberty of face masks and that is more likely to be a headline. I live in a densely populated urban area and i was driving home 11 min after arriving to vote but I don’t live in one of the southern states notorious for this practice because this has been going on for YEARS. I’m glad this injustice is finally getting wider media coverage but it’s also sad that it took it getting to such a blatant and obvious attempt at silencing certain communities for it to be worthy of a headline. There is a great documentary I saw a couple years back by the same investigative journalist that exposed the Enron scandal (Palast) called ‘The Best Democracy Money Can Buy’ that goes beyond the political motivations and how funding suppression can offer a huge ROI for those willing to pay up for the outcome they desire. It’s so insidious and depressing but it definitely helps to understand who and what’s behind it... and how it goes way beyond who gets elected.

i'm not living in united states so have a question. if it takes 11 hours to vote in those counties why people in suppressed counties don't go to other counties or neighborhoods without suppression ? is there a law that preventing them ? should people vote near their home and cant vote anywhere in the state they live ? is it going to take more than 11 hours or it's expensive to vote somewhere else ? how much they might need to travel to vote on places with shorter lines ?
