Jaboukie just doesn't have comedic talent. Pointing at things and saying “GAY!” is essentially the only joke he has.

  • N R

    N R

    5 dögum síðan

@Grey Ang God just look at all the work you're doing to avoid making your point. Your comments just get longer and longer. Just say it clearly: _“Being gay automatically makes lazy, unimaginative, prop-dependent(!) jokes funny.”_ I don't know why this is so hard for you to just say given that it's your entire point. Look how reluctant you are to stop making snarky jabs and whataboutisms, and discuss the topic intellectually. We both already know it would never work for a straight white man. Stop pretending that it might. I wonder if JYW even realises that he was hired as a token, and that he's only ever wheeled out to make gay quips on gay topics, or overtly objectified when the relevant opportunity arises. They treat him as if he has nothing to say about anything besides being gay, and yet when given his own space, he really does talk about nothing else. I can only assume that he really can't come up with anything else. When female comedians base all their jokes on having a vagina, (Amy Schumer, Lilly Singh, Joan Rivers), they are immediately recognised as untalented nowadays, and panned by the comedic community, and audiences. At the moment, however, there's still many people, who pretend it's funny because you think it's your duty to defend the gays. You don't even realise that to take his jokes on their face, instead of focusing on the fact that he's gay, is the respectful, humanising thing to do. Give it a few years and the same thing will happen with gay comedians, i.e. They'll be treated equally, instead of like small, sensitive children. I can see however that you take pride in your ability to obey social pressures without thinking, so I'll just bow out now, as there's clearly no point continuing.

  • Grey Ang

    Grey Ang

    5 dögum síðan

@N R of course not, I told you I'm a dumb dumb, I don't know how any of this works, that's why I look up to you to tell me what to feel about Jaboukie. I am just asking you to prove your point though, is that too much to ask? Well if you're a straight white guy then you should totally try it out. Preferably at work in front of your HR or your boss, then let me know if it works out for you, yeah? If it doesn't work out, I dunno, maybe ask your gay colleagues why it doesn't work? But then your gay colleagues may not be comedic geniuses like you are, so, unfortunately you're on your own though. Oh wait, you would've been fired already so you wouldn't have gay colleagues to ask. #sad Maybe try gay friends or something. Oh I see the problem, you don't have any.

  • N R

    N R

    5 dögum síðan

@Grey Ang You think what you're saying right now sounds quite edgy and clever, don't you? I mean you think you're doing a pretty good job as gay batman, right? Patrolling the streets of ISsofts City, blindly swooping in and defending the gay and talentless with knockout arguments like: ‘He's gay therefore “That's gay” is a funny funny joke.’ Look at how flustered you're getting trying to avoid a simple fact. I wonder if a straight white guy doing the equivalent would ever be funny. Looks like gay batman has a jurisdiction after all.

  • Grey Ang

    Grey Ang

    5 dögum síðan

@N R oh wow, comedy is contextual and the comedian's persona plays a part in how the joke is delivered and perceived by the audiences. Wow. You're such a genius. How did you figure that out? Following your logic then, if you're straight then just find a bunch of pictures of things then call them straight, everyone will laugh. Or, just be gay, find a bunch of pictures of things then call them gay. You're not gay? Then just find a gay friend and ask them do it, coach them to find pictures of things and then say that they're gay, they'll become FAMOUS, you'll be the comedian maker, you'll be RICH! There's no way that this is an oversimplification of a comedian's craft, it's so easy to write jokes then perfect the delivery on stage. Like why do we need professional comedians who do this full time? That's so stupid. I'm so pumped and excited for you to get famous bro. You got it all figured out, all you need to do is just do it.

  • N R

    N R

    5 dögum síðan

@Grey Ang Yeah, see, again, you refuse to address the fact that if he was straight, no one would be laughing. i.e. It's not funny. And anyone reading the reams of garbage you're substituting in for an answer, knows exactly why.

China is a country that sometimes seems to go out of its way when it comes to stereotypes. I recently heard they were putting on performances of _Raisin in the Sun._ The thing with this play is that all its main parts are black, by definition. All the _remaining_ parts are _white,_ by definition. Not a single one is Asian. Now there is no country in the world with a larger population than China. You would think they would be able to come up with a few ethnically African or ethnically European actors, but it looks like every single actor participating in this play is Asian in _blackface,_ or Asian in _whiteface._
